October 17, 2019: State Archives RIM Conference

For this meeting, members are encouraged to attend the Utah State Archives RIM Conference, “Moving Ahead,” to be held at the State Office Building Auditorium from 9AM – 4PM on Thursday, October 17.

The ARMA – Utah Chapter is sponsoring a portion of the RIM Conference in place of our standard October Meeting.

Come learn about digital preservation best practices that you can take back to your own organization!

Join us for a tour of the University of Utah’s Preservation Lab and Digitization Studio by Jeremy Myntti, Head of Digital Library Services at the University of Utah’s J. Willard Marriott Library.

2019 Summer Social

We had a lot of fun at our end of the year social held at Leatherby’s! Renee Wilson received the Chapter Member of the Year Award, Todd Johnson received the Chapter Leader of the Year Award, and MVi received the Partner Organization of the Year Award.

May 2019 Chapter Service Project

Join fellow chapter members in an effort to spruce up our community. Salt Lake County Open Space and Urban Farming has requested our help in removing invasive weeds around some native plantings at Little Confluence Open Space. This is a great opportunity to network with fellow records and information management practitioners, and do some good at the same time!

Meet at 677 West 4800 South, Taylorsville. It’s a parking area on the west side of the river. See map.

What to Wear and Bring: Participants should wear pants and have closed-toed shoes. Salt Lake County Open Space and Urban Farming will provide the necessary tools and gloves. The Chapter will provide drinks for lunch, but participants should bring extra water.

PSI is a maximum security digital records and microform storage vault located in a unique solid granite mountain.

Travel and Carpooling
Due to extremely limited parking, we will meet at the UTA parking lot located at 9400 South Highland Drive (2000 East) at 11:15 AM. We will then carpool to PSI where we will tour the facility and have lunch. For those who may need to leave early, we will arrange transportation as needed.

Parking
There is a large parking lot on the north end of the Rio Grande building. It is paid parking but you can have the ticket validated at the security desk when you are ready to leave for the day. Side street parking is available, but usually only for 2-hour increments.
