Joshua will share his experience managing a digitization project involving a large collection of physical records.

We will review:

  • Considerations facing records managers prior to beginning a digitization project
  • Challenges faced
  • Considerations wrapping up a large scale digitization project

Topics will include digitization standards, the bidding process, and concerns for day forward processes.

Over the past three years, BYU has developed an online training program for its network of Records Liaisons (Coordinators). During this presentation, we will view the completed online training module, as well as discuss how the training was developed.  We will also discuss challenges and lessons learned on the development of the training program and rollout.

For this meeting, members are encouraged to attend the Utah State Archives RIM Conference, “Moving Ahead,” to be held at the State Office Building Auditorium from 9AM – 4PM on Thursday, October 17.

The ARMA – Utah Chapter is sponsoring a portion of the RIM Conference in place of our standard October Meeting.

Come learn about digital preservation best practices that you can take back to your own organization!

Join us for a tour of the University of Utah’s Preservation Lab and Digitization Studio by Jeremy Myntti, Head of Digital Library Services at the University of Utah’s J. Willard Marriott Library.

We had a lot of fun at our end of the year social held at Leatherby’s! Renee Wilson received the Chapter Member of the Year Award, Todd Johnson received the Chapter Leader of the Year Award, and MVi received the Partner Organization of the Year Award.

May 2019 Chapter Service Project

Join fellow chapter members in an effort to spruce up our community. Salt Lake County Open Space and Urban Farming has requested our help in removing invasive weeds around some native plantings at Little Confluence Open Space. This is a great opportunity to network with fellow records and information management practitioners, and do some good at the same time!

Meet at 677 West 4800 South, Taylorsville. It’s a parking area on the west side of the river. See map.

What to Wear and Bring: Participants should wear pants and have closed-toed shoes. Salt Lake County Open Space and Urban Farming will provide the necessary tools and gloves. The Chapter will provide drinks for lunch, but participants should bring extra water.
