November 2021 – Joe Hadfield

For our last chapter presentation of the year, we are pleased to have Joe Hadfield from BYU’s Office of IT. He will be talking to us about decommissioning software. We will learn about what he has undertaken as he puts these old systems to rest.

Who is Joe Hadfield? Joe is a Senior Product Manager at BYU. He has been given the pseudonym of the “Application Undertaker” as he is in charge of the retirement of technological systems at BYU. Map/Parking/Transportation

Once you’ve filled out the Google form for parking, you will be able to park in any A or Y lot on campus on the day of the event. If you forget to register for parking there are 4 visitor parking spots at the ITB on a first come first serve basis. You can also use Frontrunner and the UVX to get here but it will require walking from the closest UVX station to the ITB.

October 2021 – RIM Reputation-talking to people about records

Join us for a roundtable discussion about “helping upper management understand the importance of records, communicating that electronic records are still records, managing records, and please stop keeping things forever!” Come prepared for a fun and informative meeting!

Mandy McClellan is the Records Manager for Central Utah Water Conservancy District, Auty Dahlquist is the Records Manager for the Utah Transit Authority, and Haley Dunkley is the URIM Records Analyst at Brigham Young University. We are very grateful for our panelists’ willingness to participate!

We’re starting our year off right with an online presentation by Terri Scovill about her data simplification project at Autoliv! Come prepared with any questions you may have. We look forward to seeing all of your faces, whether you’re new to the chapter or going on 20 years of membership!

Who is Terri Scovill? Terri has been the Global Records and Information Manager at Autoliv, an automotive safety company, for over 20 years. Over the last year, she has been integral in the implementation of a new Corporate RIM program. She is leading the efforts to help ensure that not only are Autoliv’s records managed properly and consistently, but so is their information throughout its lifecycle. Huge thanks to everyone who came out for our June 2021 Summer Social! We swore in our new board and awarded the Chapter Awards for this year. We had a wonderful year planning virtual meetings for you all this past year, and hope that you all have a lovely summer. We look forward to seeing you all again, in person, next September! May 2021 – CRM & CRA Panel

We are excited to have Josh Bullough, Michael Courtney, Todd Johnson, Howard Loos, Mandy McClellan, and Treesa Parker form a panel for our chapter meeting this month! If you’ve been thinking about becoming a Certified Records Manager (CRM) and are interested in professional development opportunities or if you just have questions about the benefits and requirements of becoming a CRM or CRA, this panel is for you! Not only have each of our panelists been through the process, but they are from our very own chapter! So come prepared to ask questions, or submit your questions using this google form and we hope to see you all there!

Who are our Panelists? Each of our panelists have received either their CRA or their CRM Certification. Josh Bullough is the Records Manager for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Michael Courtney is the Director of Archives and Records at the Diocese of Salt Lake City UT. Todd Johnson is our ARMA UT 2020-2021 President and the Records and Information Management Program Manager at Dominion Energy. Howard Loos is the Chief Information Privacy Officer and Director of Information Management at Brigham Young University in Provo. Mandy McClellan is the Records Manager for Central Utah Water Conservancy District. Treesa Parker is a Corporate Document Control Manager for Regulatory Affairs at EnergySolutions. April 2021 – EDRMSs with Michael Miles

For our April meeting we are privileged to have Michael Miles from Naviant, who will present about Enterprise Document and Records Management Systems (EDRMS). He will discuss use cases for EDRMS in an organization, successful case studies, considerations if you’re thinking of doing an RFP for an EDRMS, and trends in content management systems.

Come prepared with a notebook and questions, as we learn about this new trend in the RIM field.

Who is Michael Miles? Michael is the former CEO of Doxtech and currently works as a Senior Sales Executive in Strategic Accounts at Naviant. Naviant Inc (BPM Consulting and ECM Integrator) is a provider of enterprise content management (ECM) solutions. Michael partners with business executives and leaders to unlock potential through the use of ECM, Content Services, RPA, BPM and Intelligent Capture technology. February 2021 – Network Drives with Kendra Yates

For our February meeting we are excited to hear from our very own Kendra Yates. She will be presenting, Getting the Skeletons Out of the Closet (and Into the Cloud): A Network Drive Cleanup Case Study by Kendra Yates. We will discuss ways to clean out old network drives and sifting through what you do and don’t need to be retaining, as well as practical ways to bring your company along with you.

Come learn from real-life examples of network drive cleanup as we push forward into February with ARMA.

Who is Kendra Yates? Kendra Yates is the Chief Records Officer for Utah and the administrator of the Records and Information Management Section at the Utah Division of Archives and Records Services (State Archives). After a thirteen-year hiatus spent raising a family, Kendra completed a Bachelor of Arts in History from the University of Utah and a Masters of Library Science from Clarion University of Pennsylvania. She loves learning, problem-solving, and working with people, and appreciates the opportunity to do all three at the State Archives.

January 2021 – Threat Intelligence with Hanna Bennett

For our January meeting we are excited to have Hanna Bennett with us to discuss threat intelligence. She will discuss several facets of threat intelligence including, ransomware and other trends in security breaches, vulnerabilities that are commonly exploited by hackers, the benefits of information sharing, and other resources.

Come learn some practical ways we can secure both ourselves and our companies as we ring in this new year at ARMA.

Who is Hanna Bennett? Hanna is the Senior Intelligence Analyst for the Utah Statewide Information & Analysis Center (SIAC) with the Department of Public Safety (DPS). The SIAC is one of 80 fusion centers across the nation, and is a focal point for the receipt, analysis, gathering and sharing of threat-related information between State, Local, Tribal and Territorial (SLTT), federal and private sector partners.
